Nurturing Relationships that Sustain Pastors & Leaders
Hi, I’m Victoria. I’m glad you are here.
On this site you’ll find a brief introduction to holy friendships, a topic that has captivated my mind and my heart since I first became a leader, trying to find a way to live authentically in the fishbowl I found myself, and especially since I have had the great honor of walking alongside leaders and pastors over the last two decades.
My holy friends make me a better leader, pastor, teacher, writer, than I could ever be on my own.
Holy friendships are mutual and sacred relationships, deeply formed in God’s love. My holy friends encourage me, challenge me, and remind me of who God is calling me to be by doing three specific things:
God created us, all humans, to live and flourish in community, so my deepest hope is that you have your people too: best friends, BFF’s, anam cara, accountability partners, framily, ride or dies, soul friends…the language doesn’t matter. What does critically matter is that you have your own holy friends.
Recent studies show the only thing more detrimental to your health than smoking is social isolation. I believe that cultivating, nurturing, and modeling holy friendships is one of the best ways to confront social isolation and promote individual, institutional, and communal flourishing.
If you have one or many holy friends, you are already on your way to flourishing. If the term “holy friends” as I’ve described it sounds foreign to you, stick around and find out more. No matter what, if you are a pastor or leader struggling to also be an authentic person in the midst of your work, you need to read my book. It’s filled with stories, ideas, and theological reflection that will help you find and nurture the relationships you need.
“This is a healing and insightful book about friendships that enhances our ability to thrive as we share our gifts of ministry”
